The Very Inspiring Blogger Award

I don't usually participate in blog nominations, but I really liked the theme of this one. I love talking about what inspires me and this gives me a nice organized format to recognize those inspirations in.

First I'll start by thanking the two amazing people who nominated me for The Very Inspiring Blogger Award. Katie L. Carroll  is a wife, mother, writer, editor, critiquer, reader, soccer player - now that I think about it, she might be Wonder Woman. Make sure to check out her website and blog, The Observation Desk. And Beverly Stowe McClure is a mother, grandmother, former teacher, and critique partner extraordinaire <-- seriously! She inspires me with her lovely photos of the flora and fauna of her little spot in Texas and her generous spirit. Please check out her many wonderful titles for kids and teens and her blog, The Story of A Writer
The rules for accepting this award are as follows:
1. Thank the person who nominated you, and link to their blog.
2. Display the award logo.
3. Nominate at least 15 other blogs (more or less) and provide a link where they may be found.
4. Then, go to their blog, leave a comment to let them know they have been nominated, and where to find the information they need to accept (rules).
5. Mention three things that inspired you the most during the past few weeks.
So here are the three things that have inspired me recently…
  • After years of being a prolific writer, I suddenly found myself with absolutely no desire to write something new. Once a month a group of local writers meet for lunch to discuss all things writing. For months I've reported, "Nothing new from me. Just here for the food." Then, one of the gals shared the details on a secret project of hers and it inspired me to try my own secret project. So I'm writing again. Thanks, Marie!
  • A family member of mine is currently in a battle for her life. Unfortunately, I'm being literal. She's young and vibrant. She has an awesome husband and school aged children. It completely SUCKS! Yet her attitude toward it inspires me constantly. I don't know that I could face such a diagnosis with a positive spirit like she has. Honestly, I hope I never find out if I can. I also hope that she is forced to face her ultimate fears for years and years to come. I'd be thrilled to have her continue to inspire me until we are old and gray together. Love you, lady!
  • It's hard to pick one final inspiration! So many little things inspire me everyday. The good work the local wild animal rehab center does for injured wildlife. The one day homeless count happening today (I'm writing this on January 30th). My friends' fundraising efforts for Relay for Life. How a friend of mine is celebrating her 50th all year long by making a wish each month and drumming up 50 people to help make it happen. On and on - so I guess my last inspiration is this life. Watching how other live their life inspires me to be a better person. Thanks everybody!

Now it's your turn. I stink at tagging people, but if the idea of sharing some of your recent inspirations appeals to you, let me know and I'll add you and your blog to the post. Otherwise, feel free to share an inspiration or two in the comments.

  1. Heartfelt inspirations, Kai! I hope your loved one wins her battle.

  2. Congrats on being tagged! I need to do my post :) Great inspirations and good luck on your secret project!

    1. Thanks. I'm editing right now and I'm pretty darned excited about it. Always a good sign.

  3. Thanks for your kind words, Kai. Knowing you is a blessing in my life. I'm glad you're writing again. We'd miss your lovely stories. I'm praying for your family member. Watching how others live can be an inspiration.

    1. I'm so often amazed by the spirit and strength displayed by others.
